Support for Our Troops, and a Pledge to Bring Them Home
Our brave warriors overseas—many on second, third, or even sixth tours of duty due to the President’s vicious “stop-loss” policy—have done all they can to bring stability to Iraq. The only resolution lies with Iraq and its neighbors restoring peace; peace will not come from a military “victory” in Iraq. I support withdrawing our troops in a responsible and strategic manner and involving neighboring countries in the peace process.

Honor Our Troops and Veterans
As the only candidate with intimate experience through my son and my uncles with war, service and disability, I know very well how important it is to honor the service of all those who served in the military. That is why I am involved with the Military Committee of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, and am a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. I believe that the Order of the Purple Heart, the Alaska Disabled Veterans Sports Program, Wounded Warriors, and other efforts and programs deserve our support and recognition.

Fully Fund Veteran Health Care & the Veteran’s Administration
Iraq and Afghanistan operations are causing enormous increases in disabled and severely traumatized veterans. Are we ready to handle this obligation? The fact remains, VA is under-funded and cannot handle existing need, and extended families, especially for older Veterans, are often short-changed. We must honor our agreement and ensure that all our veterans are supported in every way possible and receive all the benefits they have earned.
