Diane Benson Strongly Supports Alaska Gas Pipeline

In keeping with her previous staunch support for the construction of an Alaska Gas Pipeline, Diane Benson is pleased to congratulate BP and ConocoPhillips on their announcement yesterday regarding the start of construction of the pipeline.  The pipeline will bring thousands of jobs, and economic growth to Alaska, especially Alaska's vibrant small business community.  In addition, the pipeline promises increased energy stability and security for the United States.

In response to BP and ConocoPhillips April 8 announcement, on April 9, Diane Benson sent a series of letters to Gov. Sarah Palin and to the chief executives of BP, ConocoPhillips and TransCanada raising important policy proposals and concerns which must be included in the pipeline planning process.

Alaska is greatly encouraged by this development and Diane welcomes discussions with industry leaders, members of the Alaska government, and Alaskans on this issue.

Pipeline through Alaska

Hi again Diane,

This is Walter A again from Yakuat.

I support a gas pipeline through our great State of Alaska. But only if those villages and communities that the pipeline goes through or is near the LINE, have a spir line going to their village or Community. Then the people of Alaska would at least get some benefit from the gas line. Some people say impossible and wouldn't even discuss it.

If the gas has to go stateside (Lower forty-eight) like the oil, then come back up so we pay more for our gas than those who don't have any gas at all is wrong, to us Alaskans and to our leaders that make these decisions. Remember ANCSA was impossible, too.

Walter A.
